Create an Evening of Relaxation

You should always find time to spend with yourself. If you haven’t had the luxury of doing that throughout your week then start with one day out of the week. Sunday is my designated day to really create a luxurious self-care experience. I always take special care of myself by running an aromatherapy bath with candles, incense, cucumber slices for my eyes, avocado oatmeal face mask, a citrus or peppermint drink, and soothing music. I use my dry body brush before I bathe to exfoliate my skin. While I’m in the bath I always take time to speak life into myself. I resight my affirmations out loud. I speak things over myself like, “you are healed, you are whole, you are beautiful inside and out, your finances are thriving, your marriage is thriving, your blog is thriving, your business is thriving, you’re debt-free, through the Holy Spirit your business will reach a multitude of Gods people, you are obedient to the word of God, you are operating in your purpose.” These are just a few affirmations I resight daily as well as during my Self-Care Sunday routine.

After I’ve spoken life over myself I RELAX. Self-Care is just what it says it is. Taking care of yourself. Self-Care Sunday is less about the bath and more about the experience. Yes, baths are relaxing. I enjoy the aromatherapy from my bath, and how soothing it is to my body. Most importantly I enjoy the fact that I’ve become intentional about taking time for myself. It has allowed me to form the habit of finding peace of mind. We wear so many hats. Mother’s, wives, husbands, father’s, students, CEO’s, and a list of other roles. Taking time for you means you get to just be a person; even if it’s only for an hour. Lol. Maximize your self-care experience doing something that allows you to just spend time with yourself in a relaxing state. It may not be taking a bath or getting a pedicure. Maybe relaxation for you is listening to music in a quiet place, reading a book, taking a bike ride, going to the gym. However, you perceive relaxation make sure you’re thinking about yourself at some point weekly. Once you do that make sure you take time to speak life into yourself. The bible says, “there is life and death in the power of the tongue.” You will ultimately have what you speak. If no one has ever taken the time to speak life into you I challenge you to be the first person to consistently speak life into yourself.

Self-Care Sunday tip this week is to create your own self-care routine. Make sure you’re doing something that puts you in a state of relaxation, and also allows you time to speak life over yourself through affirmations. You only get one you so take of yourself. Blessings.
